Freestyle Dance at Stage 84

The style of dance covered in the Street & Freestyle classes is an amalgamation of genres including Disco Dance, Street Dance, Break Dance, Hip Hop and Lyrical Hip Hop. Our high energy routines are performed to the music currently in the charts or playing on the music channels today. Think "Music video backing dancer" and this should provide an idea of the type of work we explore.

Students who take these classes are entered in to IDTA freestyle examinations. The IDTA (or International Dance Teachers Association) is a Worldwide organisation and only teachers qualified with the IDTA are able to enter students in for these particular examinations.

At Stage 84 we also feel that examination work helps to give recognition for the students’ hard work and improvement throughout their training. The IDTA is a highly respected international board whose dance qualifications are an asset for anyone wanting to embark on a career in performance. Each student will perform a number of dance routines in front of an IDTA examiner who will grade the performance on rhythmic interpretation, presentation, technical ability, use of foot work and arms. The grades then add up to a final mark.
